Contrary to popular belief, scientific research has shown that leaving a wound to heal in the open air may actually prolong the healing process. Larger wounds are best protected with sterile wound dressings that cushion them. Covering a wound prevents contamination, reduces the risk of infection and ensures an undisturbed and optimal healing environment. Learn how long you should keep a plaster on a cut.

Elastoplast offers two sizes of big plasters for medium to large wounds:
  • XL which measures 6 x 7cm
  • XXL which measures 8 x 10cm

Elastoplast Antibacterial Aqua Protect XL and XXL plasters are waterproof

Protecting your medium to large wound or wound after minor surgery from water is important for the

wound healing process.

Elastoplast large waterproof plasters are ideal for washing, showering, bathing and swimming. The waterproof material guards against moisture while their large, non-stick pad protects and cushions the wound. The plasters are breathable and thin, meaning they’re flexible enough to adapt to the skin‘s movements.

The Elastoplast range includes a selection of large waterproof plasters, including Antibacterial Aqua Protect XL for large wounds, and Antibacterial Aqua Protect XXL for even larger wounds. These extra large wound dressings are waterproof and provide sterile protection using antibacterial silver.

Sterile Waterproof XL and XXL plasters are also suitable for larger or post-operative wounds. Their waterproof film means they can be worn while the skin comes into contact water, because the material keeps water on the surface where it beads off.

Always see a doctor if the wound is deep, bleeds heavily or shows signs of infection like reddening, swelling or warmth.
